For 2027 entry, the main UCAS deadline is 18:00 UK time on 13 January 2027. Oxford, Cambridge and most medicine, dentistry and veterinary courses closed earlier, at 18:00 on 15 October 2026. UCAS Extra opens on 25 February 2027, the last date to apply before Clearing is 30 June 2027, Clearing opens on 2 July 2027, and A-level results day is Thursday 12 August 2027.
Most UCAS applicants only know one date: the January deadline. In practice there are a dozen dates in the 2027 cycle that matter, and missing the less famous ones (a reply deadline, your school's internal cut-off) causes more trouble than missing the famous one.
This is every date for 2027 entry, in order, with what you need to do before each one.

If any of your choices is at Oxford or Cambridge, or is a course in medicine, dentistry or veterinary medicine or science, your whole application had to reach UCAS by 18:00 UK time on 15 October 2026. That includes your other choices: an application can only be submitted once, so the earliest deadline among your choices sets the date for all of them.
Two things catch people out here:
- UCAS counts the application when it receives it from your school, complete with your reference and predicted grades, not when you hand it to your school. Most schools ask for it a week or more earlier. Our 15 October deadline guide covers exactly what is due.
- 15 October is not the end of the Oxbridge process. Admissions tests, Cambridge's own questionnaire (My Cambridge Application) and Oxford written work all come after it. See admissions test dates for 2027 entry.
Missed it? Read what to do if you missed the 15 October deadline. The short version: you cannot apply to Oxbridge or most medicine courses this cycle, but every other choice is still open until January.
December 2026 to January 2027: Oxbridge interviews and decisions
Shortlisted Oxford applicants are interviewed online in December 2026, and Oxford releases its decisions through UCAS on 12 January 2027. Cambridge colleges interview mostly in the first three weeks of December, with a smaller number of interviews and the Winter Pool in January, and Cambridge decisions arrive in late January 2027.

13 January 2027: the main UCAS deadline
For almost every other undergraduate course in the UK, the deadline is 18:00 UK time on Wednesday 13 January 2027. UCAS calls it the equal-consideration deadline, and the name is the important part: every application that arrives by then must be considered on the same basis as every other.
What that means for you:
- Your real deadline is earlier. Ask your school for its internal date now. Many set one in early December so that teachers can write references before the Christmas break.
- Your personal statement is final once you submit. Every choice, including any you add later, reads the same statement. If you are going to get feedback, get it before your school's deadline, not before UCAS's.
- Submitting early does not usually earn you an advantage, but submitting late can cost you one. Courses that fill up after 13 January are under no obligation to look at you.
If you want to check where your statement stands before you hand it in, our guide to whether your personal statement is good enough explains the scores first drafts usually get, and what moves them.
After 13 January: applying late
You can still apply until 18:00 on 30 June 2027. Late applications are sent to universities, but universities decide whether to consider them, and many competitive courses will already be full. Apply late only to courses that say they are still accepting applications.
Anything submitted after 30 June goes straight into Clearing.
February to July 2027: decisions, Extra and replying to offers
Decisions. Universities make their decisions between autumn and spring. Offers appear in UCAS Hub as conditional (you need certain grades) or unconditional.
UCAS Extra (25 February to 1 July 2027). If you have used all five choices and have no offers, either because you were rejected or because you declined them, Extra lets you add one course at a time. Our UCAS Extra guide explains when it is worth using and how to rewrite your statement for it.
Replying to offers. Once all your decisions are in, you choose a firm choice and, if you like, an insurance choice, and decline the rest. Your reply date depends on when your last decision arrived:
- 6 May 2027 if all your decisions arrived by 31 March 2027
- 2 June 2027 if your last decision arrived by 12 May 2027
If you miss your reply date, UCAS declines your offers for you. How to choose: firm and insurance choices explained.
July and August 2027: Clearing and results day
Clearing opens on 2 July 2027 for anyone without a place, including late applicants and anyone who declined all their offers. Most of the movement happens later, on results day.
IB results are released in early July, and the IB Organization confirms the exact date. A-level results day is Thursday 12 August 2027. Universities confirm places that morning, and anyone who missed their grades, or exceeded them, can use Clearing. Students sitting Scottish qualifications get their results in early August; check Qualifications Scotland for the confirmed date.
If you end up in Clearing, the phone call matters more than the statement: see what to say on a Clearing call and the Clearing guide.
A month-by-month plan if you are applying for 2027 entry now
October to November 2026. Finish your personal statement and get it read by at least one person who will tell you the truth. Agree your five choices. If you are an Oxbridge applicant, prepare for interview.
Early December 2026. Most school internal deadlines. Your statement, choices and personal details should be final.
January 2027. Your school submits by 13 January. After that, nothing changes on the application until decisions arrive.
February to May 2027. Decisions arrive. Use Extra if you need it. Reply by your deadline.
June to August 2027. Exams, then results day on 12 August.
Check your statement before your school's deadline
The statement is the only part of the application you write entirely yourself, and it cannot be changed after submission. Score your personal statement with Statementory before your school's internal deadline: a score out of 100, notes on every line and a 10-step plan, back in 5 to 10 minutes.

Frequently asked questions
When is the UCAS deadline for 2027 entry?
18:00 UK time on Wednesday 13 January 2027 for most courses. Applications that arrive by then are guaranteed equal consideration. Oxford, Cambridge and most medicine, dentistry and veterinary courses had an earlier deadline of 18:00 on 15 October 2026.
Can I apply to university after 13 January 2027?
Yes. You can apply until 18:00 on 30 June 2027, but universities only have to consider applications that met the 13 January deadline. Popular courses are often full by then. After 30 June, applications go straight into Clearing, which opens on 2 July 2027.
Is my school's deadline the same as the UCAS deadline?
Almost never. Your school has to add your reference and predicted grades before sending the application to UCAS, so most schools set an internal deadline weeks before 13 January. That earlier date is the one you actually need to meet.
When do I have to reply to my university offers?
It depends on when your last decision arrives. Universities publishing the 2027 cycle list 6 May 2027 if all your decisions arrived by 31 March, and 2 June 2027 if your last decision arrived by 12 May. Your UCAS Hub shows your exact reply date, and if you miss it your offers are declined automatically.
When is A-level results day 2027?
Thursday 12 August 2027. It is also the day universities confirm places, and the busiest day of Clearing.
