Rice asks two 150-word answers (what draws you to the academic areas you selected and how you would explore them at Rice, and which elements of the Rice experience appeal to you) and one 500-word essay chosen from two prompts about how you would contribute to the Rice community, one of them about its residential college system. Rice also asks for "The Box", an image, which is not writing.
Rice's admission counselors advise moving from general statements to specific experiences, treating the supplement as a bridge between what you have done and where you are going, and researching the school: proximity or campus size alone are not reasons.
