Your grades, predicted or achieved, and your Statementory score, turned into a fair, deliberately conservative estimate of your offer chances at 27 UK universities, and a balanced set of five UCAS choices.
Your best three A-levels. Predicted grades can still move, so universities treat them as a forecast.
Ranges are rounded down. With predicted grades they describe the chance of an offer, not of a place; with achieved grades an offer is usually unconditional. They cannot see admissions tests, interviews or your reference.
Very high application volume: the statement helps most on competitive courses.
Predicted grades lead. Some courses (maths, economics) also look at admissions tests.
Holistic reading: statement and reference both matter alongside predicted grades.
Highly course-dependent: some programmes are far more selective than the university overall.
Few courses interview, so the statement is a real differentiator between applicants with similar grades.
Offer rates differ sharply by course and by fee status.
Grades in maths and the sciences lead. Many courses interview or set an admissions test.
Admissions tests, interviews and your grades decide most of it. The statement is read, and often discussed at interview.
Most courses do not interview, so the statement carries more weight here than almost anywhere else.
Admissions tests, interviews and your grades decide most of it. The statement is read, and often discussed at interview.
Typical offers shown are the middle of each university's usual range and vary by course: always check your course page. If you are eligible for a contextual offer, your real requirements may be lower.
UCAS gives you five choices. A strong set mixes ambitious, realistic and safe universities, so one bad day in an interview or one missed grade cannot leave you with nothing.
Something to aim for, something you are likely to get, and a safe choice underneath.
You picked 10 universities. These 5 balance best; change your list above to try others.
Each university starts from the chance of an applicant who exactly meets its typical offer with a statement right at its bar, which is very different from its overall offer rate: that average includes everyone applying below the entry grades. Your profile then moves you up or down from there.
Grades move it most, and predicted and achieved grades are weighed completely differently. Predicted grades above the offer help, but universities know forecasts slip. Achieved grades are certain, so meeting the offer is worth more and each grade above it counts for more, while a shortfall is final and costs far more. Missing the offer hurts most where selection leans on tests and interviews.
Your Statementory score then adjusts it, by more at universities that rarely interview and by less at Oxford and Cambridge. A weak statement costs more than a great one gains. Medicine, dentistry and veterinary courses are estimated on their own scale, because the UCAT and interviews make them selective almost everywhere.
